About

It’s not about me; it’s about the facts. If anyone tries to make it about me, that’s because they don’t have good counter-arguments. Attacking the person rather than the argument is the oldest debating trick in the book.

Nevertheless, I will tell you a little about myself so that you know where I’m coming from. I’m a recently retired Professor of Geophysics who spent much of his career working with the oil and gas exploration industry. So you can’t cast me as an eco-zealot.

I am proud of the work I did over my career as I believe that low-cost fossil fuel energy enabled massive improvements in public well-being through the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.

However, having also worked on ancient climate change and even attempted to model the climate on exoplanets, I believe the science of climate is robust. And that science tells us, unequivocally, it’s time to move on from fossil fuels.
