Is Net Zero Stupid?

Solar-farms and wind-turbines are a blot on the landscape

There are important discussions we need to have about how best to tackle climate change.

Should solar panels be put on buildings rather than on prime agricultural land? Are wind turbines ugly or beautiful? Is nuclear power a good idea? Should capturing emissions and burying them underground, be part of the solution? How can people, without driveways or garages, charge EVs at low cost? How good are heat pumps? And so on.

These are the discussions we should be having rather than being distracted by still having to convince people that action is necessary at all.

My advice, if you’re unhappy about a planned local renewable energy project, is to not start by saying “climate change is a hoax” or “I don’t believe in net zero“. That kind of nonsense just destroys your credibility so that people won’t listen to your genuine concerns about whether such schemes are appropriate in your particular area.
